For seven heartbreaking years, Serafina faithfully waits for Marco, the man she believes is destined to become her husband. Every year, tradition forces her to draw a token that determines which woman will sail away with him, and every year, she is left behind while Bianca takes her place.
But the truth is far more cruel than Serafina ever imagined. Marco has secretly manipulated the ceremony from the beginning, ensuring that Serafina could never be chosen. He never intended to marry her—she was only the woman he kept waiting while he pursued Bianca.
Then, on the eighth festival, fate finally gives Serafina a choice of her own. She draws the red token and refuses to play Marco's game any longer. Instead of waiting for the man who betrayed her, she steps aboard the ship of Nico, a quiet and powerful heir who has loved her from afar and patiently waited for his chance.
When Marco realizes Serafina is truly leaving, he desperately follows after her, begging her to return. But the woman who spent seven years waiting for his love is gone.
This time, Serafina chooses herself—and the man who never stopped choosing her.
